Yummy Goodness.

Since it is also the season for baking, I thought I'd share my favorite treat. Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cakes by Paula Deen It is hands-down my favorite recipe for anything resembling pumpkin pie! In fact, I'm betting if you try this recipe you'll make this cake before making a pie for Thanksgiving next year. It's almost in-between a cake and a pie. I can't control myself around it! Usually a good sign the recipe is a winner. ;-) Warning: it is VERY fattening. It uses cream cheese, lots of butter and sugar. I only make it once a year, so I don't let it bother me.

If you're looking for something healthy, I recommend green smoothies. Only some mixes really taste good. Personally I like a blackberry, mango, spinach, carrot, banana mix. Or a blueberry, strawberry, spinach, carrot, tomato mix. Some recipes are really gross. Trial and error is really the only way to go. You get your 5-7 servings of veggies in one easy cup. The kids really do love it too. At least the above mixes are ones my kids love. Two things that make a green smoothie gross for me are adding either celery or too many veggies. Just adding celery completely wrecks it. It gives a really strong bizarre taste. My smoothies are more like 70% fruit and 30% veggie. They recommend 60% to 40%. I know putting spinach in there sounds weird, but I really don't taste it that much. It does help curb some junk food cravings too.

However, I did drink a green smoothie today and am still craving those brownies I just made from scratch for my husband. Hmmmm. Looks like he'll have to share. ;-)
