First thing I did today (and usually every day), was make chai. I wouldn't survive the day without it! John usually makes breakfast (it's usually oatmeal or some other cereal), today I made cream of wheat. Then I make sure our lawn gets watered. It needs lots of watering since it's all new(ish)--and parts of the lawn looks like it's dying again.
After breakfast, is quiet time and we all have our devotions. If Daniel is being especially rambunctious, Angela talks and plays with him quietly while I do my devotions, and then I take care of the baby while she does hers.
Next we all do our washing up...brushing teeth etc.
Time for homeschooling! We all go to the school room and I make sure Angela is listening to her online teacher, has her things ready (pencils etc.) and the appropriate worksheets. I'm also entertaining Daniel and keeping him happy. In between all of that, I teach David Reading (using the Teach Your Child How to Read in a 100 Easy Lessons book, and Math (using Math U See Curriculum). I forgot to mention they both do the Bible Class together first. Depending how the day is going I also do some Writing with him, and he usually sits in and listens to various parts of Angela's lessons.
Somewhere in there, I make lunch for everyone--either a sandwich or I heat up leftovers. Around 3pm, I take a break for chai while the baby naps.
At this point, Angela may or may not be done with school...depends how long certain things take her.
Around 5pm I make supper. Tonight we're having crockpot lasagna with a veggie of some sort. Haven't made up my mind yet on that.
The only thing breaking the routine today, so far, was David injuring himself.
Proof the klutz gene runs in our family and is hereditary!
He was swinging his hotwheel car in a plastic bag around and around. I was just about to tell him to stop before he hurt someone with it, when he smacked himself in the head with it. I'm actually surprised at the damage that small car did! It did have some sharp edges to it...and he was whipping that thing around pretty good! Took awhile to stop the bleeding. I had him lay down for awhile while we put pressure on his head wound with paper towels. I finally folded up two paper towels when the bleeding slowed down, pressed them to his head and wrapped an ace bandage around that to keep it in place. It was still oozing blood from time to time. I didn't have any gauze or cotton or anything...so I had to use what I had! He seems fine now and the bleeding has stopped! Yay!
Becky and Nathan's routine was messed up though. I called them right away when David first hurt himself, because I couldn't tell how bad it was. There was too much blood and his hair was in the way. Thought he might need stitches. So I had them come over and watch Daniel and Angela while I took care of David. They were busy enough getting their house ready for a visit from a friend of theirs. So I really appreciated that!! False alarm--thankfully!
And this is what David looked like after my First Aid treatment. :-P
Wow, at least he has a manly picture to show for it!
